It is intended that the works will be finalised by the end of June 2021.

Feedback closed 8 November 2020.

As part of Council’s commitment to improve pedestrian and traffic safety, Council is proposing improvements at the below intersections to Military Road. These improvements address Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Action Plans, for further information about Council's LATM Plans see FAQs and/or Important Links. Images of the intersections before the works, photomontages of the interactions after the proposed works and intersection designs are available in the image libraries (one per intersection).

If there is general community support for any of the proposals, it is intended that works will be finalised by the end of June 2021.

LOCATION 1 - RANGERS ROAD AND MILITARY ROAD, NEUTRAL BAY (LATM Zone 6 – T.120)

Council proposes to install a raised pedestrian crossing on Rangers Road, on the southern side of the intersection with Military Road.

The adjacent nearby speed hump is to be removed and incorporated into the proposed raised pedestrian crossing. The raised pedestrian crossing will be on a flat top road hump to increase the visibility of approaching drivers and slow down traffic at the point of the pedestrian crossing. Lighting will also be reviewed and upgraded where required.

LOCATION 2, 3 and 4 - HOLT AVENUE, SPENCER ROAD and CABRAMATTA ROAD and MILITARY ROAD CREMORNE (LATM Zone 6 - T.111, T112)

Council proposes two similar options at each intersection of Military Road with Holt Avenue, Spencer Road and Cabramatta Road.

  • Option A (install kerb extensions on each corner that is connected by a level continuous footpath treatment) - improves pedestrian safety and priority at the intersection and assisting in slowing down traffic at the point of the continuous footpath. OR
  • Option B (install kerb extensions on each corner only) - reduces the crossing distance and improves pedestrian safety

Lighting will also be reviewed and upgraded where required.

LOCATION 5 - MACPHERSON STREET AND MILITARY ROAD, NEUTRAL BAY (LATM Zone 5 - T.53)

Council proposes to improve the existing level pedestrian crossing on MacPherson Street, at the intersection with Military Road.

The current crossing distance will be reduced using kerb extensions and a modified central refuge island. Improvements to signage placement and path of vehicle travel will increase the visibility of approaching drivers and awareness of the pedestrian crossing. Lighting will also be reviewed and upgraded where required.
