Consultation has concluded

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2019

On 28 October 2019 considered a post exhibition report (available in the document library) and resolved:

1. That Council notes the submissions received.
2. That the Events Strategy 2019-2021 and amended Action Plan 2019-2021 be adopted.

Two submissions were received during the exhibition period. One related to the supply of ticketing services, which is covered in Council’s purchasing policies. The second related to the installation of an electronic screen at the Coal Loader to promote upcoming events. A minor amendment has been made to the action plan, under Priority 1: Improve the strategic approach to event management, to include investigating the feasibility and costs of installing and maintaining a digital screen at the Coal Loader.

BACKGROUND

Council’s Draft Events Strategy 2019 – 2021 (available in the document library) outlines events priorities across the organisation for the next two years.

Council has a decentralised approach to event delivery with teams from across Council organising events relating to specific subjects, activities or locations. Therefore, this Draft Events Strategy 2019-2021 draws together all the event-related strategies in the North Sydney Community Strategic Plan 2018-2028 (CSP) and the Delivery Program 2018/19-2020/21.

The Draft Strategy focuses on three priority areas

  • improve the strategic approach to event management;
  • initiate and deliver new local and regional community events; and
  • support events organised by external organisations.

The Draft Strategy incorporates several new elements, including a new focus on tourism, the development of an events program for the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability and an increased emphasis on partnerships to deliver events effectively, in line with the CSP.

Submissions closed 5pm, 30 August 2019.

The Draft Strategy is available in the document library.
