Council is preparing its next DIAP which will detail the actions to be undertaken for the period 2022-2026 to build a strong community that is inclusive of people with disability, living, working and visiting the area.
Council is committed to building on actions it has already undertaken from its previous DIAP to improve the inclusion of people with disability. An accessible and inclusive community benefits the everyone in the North Sydney community, including families with young children and older people, by making it easier to get around and participate.
The DIAP focuses on addressing the structural and attitudinal barriers that prevent people with disability from having equal access to information, places, services, transport, housing, education, training, employment, and social opportunities.
The Engagement Strategy (available from the document library) details how we engaged on this project.
the first stage involved gathering up-to-date information on local needs and issues. This information helped guide Council to develop actions that address these priorities. Council used a range of engagement methods to seek input from key stakeholders, including people with disability. Council engaged the services of JC Harwood Consulting Pty Ltd to prepare the new DIAP. Click here to view Council’s previous DIAP 2016-2019.
