The sculpture The Sun Also Rises by Morgan Jones won the Aqualand Sculpture Award at the 2019 Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi and has been gifted to Council.

The proposed location for the sculpture has now changed as a result of an initial round of community consultation. It was originally proposed for Milson Park, and is now proposed to go to one of two sites in Carradah Park, Waverton. Council is seeking feedback via the below online submission form on the proposed location options (see site map in document library).

BACKGROUND

In November/December 2019, Council undertook community consultation regarding a proposal to install the sculpture in Milson Park, Kirribilli. The post exhibition report is available in the document libraryThe community consultation results were reported to Council in April 2020. In response to the feedback, Council resolved NOT to place the sculpture at Milson Park foreshore. Additionally, Council resolved to place the sculpture in Carradah Park subject to identification of an acceptable location determined by senior staff, and community feedback via a minimum 28 day public exhibition period.
