Council is proposing to upgrade the playground in Brennan Park and we need your feedback on our plans.

Background

The playground in Brennan Park was constructed in 1998 and was carefully designed to blend in with the existing children’s gardens and to capitalise on the wonderful canopy cover provided by the huge Fig Tree. The playground has been extremely popular and well-used, and over the years several of the pieces of play equipment have been replaced. The new items are in good serviceable condition, the playground is ready for a modest revamp and expansion. Council does not intend to change the style and character of this play-space, but is keen to maximise play-value by refurbishing the existing playground where necessary, and by subtly extending it southwards with a range of fun new play items.

What’s proposed?

To revamp the existing playground in Brennan Park incorporating an exciting range of new equipment for users of diverse ages and abilities, from toddlers through to teens.

The proposed upgrade will:

  • Complement the existing leafy, character of the Park and continue the theme of a children’s garden. Note: the adjoining original children’s gardens date back to the initial creation of Brennan Park
  • Provide a variety of play equipment catering to a wide age and ability range of users
  • Provide maximum play value by offering many different types of activities (spinning, swinging, sliding, bouncing, digging, climbing etc.) and providing equipment that can accommodate several children simultaneously
  • Provide a pleasant environment for parents and carers with an adequate amount of seating positioned to facilitate easy supervision
  • Incorporate the surrounding canopy trees, gardens and landscaping as integral components of the design
