Feedback closes Sunday 27 November 2023.

In accordance with Council’s Playgrounds Plan of Management and Playgrounds Methodology, the existing Lodge Road Playground (Lodge Road, Cremorne) is scheduled for upgrade.

The existing playground was last updated in 2000/01 and Council seeks to revitalise the existing playground. The proposed upgrade will retain some of the existing elements but will aim to increase functionality and some new play elements will be added.

Project Objectives

To create a refurbished and expanded playground that:

  • provide a safe and engaging space to promote physical activity and social development
  • retains the existing leafy, garden character of the current playground;
  • provides a variety of play equipment, for a range of ages and abilities
  • provides a pleasant environment for parents and carers, with adequate (informal) seating positioned to facilitate easy supervision; and
  • provides maximum play value by offering many different types of activities (spinning, swinging, sliding, balancing, climbing etc)

Design Overview

The proposal is contained within the existing playground boundary and it retains the existing slide as well as:

Existing swing sets replaced with a new multiple set of swings suitable for all ages.

  • Play area expanded with:
    1. new timber platform for slide connection with new balustrade;
    2. new seats on concrete slab;
    3. sandstone logs and stepping stones which form part of a nature play;
    4. multi-play structure with a great play value for school aged children, activities including climbing, and balancing;
    5. rubber surfacing in high traffic areas;
    6. turnicolo for up to three children at a time

The design option has been developed to suit the specified age group and the available budget for this project. View the draft Concept Plan in the Document Library.

Note: this project does not include changes to the surrounding parkland, please only provide feedback on elements of the play space.
