Project Update

Works commenced Monday 24 February 2025 and will be completed within 4 weeks, weather permitting.

Background

In July 2023, Council sought community feedback on designs for the Young and Grosvenor Street Intersection. Based on the valuable submissions received, the designs were updated to include:

  • A fully raised intersection to further calm traffic and improve safety.
  • An additional pedestrian/cyclist crossing on the southern side of the intersection.

The updated designs were endorsed at the North Sydney Traffic Committee meeting on 15 March 2024. You can view the updated designs here and Traffic Committee report here.

Funding for the project was secured through the Transport for NSW Get NSW Active grant program. Construction is scheduled to commence in January 2025, alongside Stage 1 of the project. Further details are available here.

The Young and Grosvenor Street Intersection Cycling and Walking Upgrades will complete the Young Street Cycleway Extension to Neutral Bay town centre. This extension has been publicly exhibited, with community feedback presented to Council and the project approved for construction. Learn more on the dedicated Your Say page here.

Construction of the intersection is planned to coincide with or begin immediately after the Young Street Cycleway Extension, ensuring a seamless upgrade to the area.

Further Information

Council is committed to keeping the community informed throughout the project. Construction commenced on Monday 24 February 2025. Regular updates will be provided to keep you informed of progress.
