Council is seeking feedback from the community on the replacement of shade structures on Willoughby Road, Crows Nest.

In late 2022, Council consulted on proposed ‘Stage 2’ streetscape upgrades to Willoughby Road. On 27 February 2023, Council resolved to proceed with the detailed design of Option 1C which includes early works of undergrounding power lines and stormwater drainage works (due to commence in August 2023).

It was also resolved that Council undertake further consultation with business operators on Willoughby Road regarding the potential replacement of umbrellas with ‘alfresco’ shade structures.

Council has reviewed the shade options and is proposing to replace existing umbrellas that are at the end of their life with new umbrellas that will maintain the quality standard of Crows Nest’s main street. Please see the attached plan for locations.

The umbrellas on Willoughby Road, between Burlington and Albany Streets, will be funded from the Crows Nest Mainstreet levy and maintained by Council.

All feedback received will be collated, analysed and where possible the design will be modified to include community feedback.
