Trailer Parking Restrictions

Consultation has concluded

Submissions closed midnight 11 August 2019

New parking restrictions for trailers will be implemented in June 2019 in the following streets in response to community concerns about long-term parking of trailers on local roads affecting parking access, road safety, residential and visual amenity.

  • Fifth Avenue & Montague Road, Cremorne
  • Montpelier Street, Neutral Bay
  • Brothers Avenue (Tunks Park), Cammeray*

“No Parking – Motor Vehicles Excepted” signage will be installed in all unrestricted parking zones along the above streets. This will allow the unrestricted parking of motor vehicles and restrict the parking of all types trailers including boat trailers, box trailers and caravans. Please note, if a trailer is hitched to a motor vehicle, the combination is considered a motor vehicle and would therefore be exempt from the restrictions.

**In Brothers Avenue (Tunks Park), the existing spaces that are designated “Vehicles with Trailer Only” will be retained to enable parking for boat ramp users.

UPDATE: Montague Road & Fifth Avenue, Cremorne (July 2019)

Following community notification in June 2019, Council subsequently received representations from localresidents requesting Council to limit the restrictions to only the northern section of Fifth Avenue between Brothers Memorial Park and Ellalong Road. This change was endorsed by the North Sydney Traffic Committee at its meeting on 14 June 2019 (refer to Document Library - Council Report EPS01 24 June 2019).

Accordingly, from July 2019 “No Parking - Motor Vehicles Excepted” signage will be installed only on the northern section of Fifth Avenue between Brothers Memorial Park and Ellalong Road.

Existing unrestricted parking in Montague Road and elsewhere in Fifth Avenue will be retained.

For further information refer to the document library or contact Council's Manager Traffic & Transport Operations on 9936 8100.

Community Feedback

Council will review the parking restrictions after 3 months and report the outcomes back to the Traffic Committee meeting on 6 September 2019.
