Consultation has concluded

Feedback closes 12 December 2022

You’re invited to have your say on Council’s draft Library and Historical Services Strategy 2022-2027.

The Strategy sets out how Library services in North Sydney will evolve and grow over the next five years. Describing the priorities for our library service, strategies for future development, and initiatives and actions that the Library will pursue in delivering these objectives.

Council operates Stanton Library and also has an online service, a home delivery service for residents who cannot visit a library due to illness, frailty, or disability, the North Sydney Heritage Centre and two historic properties, Don Bank Museum and St Thomas Rest Park. This dynamic environment and requires a framework to prioritise service planning and delivery which can meet the changing community needs.

The Strategy is structured around three core focus areas:

1. Inclusive, responsive and flexible.

2. Reading, learning and sharing stories.

3. Outreach, engagement and access.

The development of the new strategy was guided by formal and informal consultation with the community and stakeholders between 2020-2022, most significantly from the Library survey held between November 2021 to January 2022 (Your Library, Your Say), the findings of which were reported to Council in July 2022.

Other consultations included; 2020 Customer Service Satisfaction Survey, 2020 My Stanton customer engagement project, 2021 Community Strategic Plan consultations, 2021 Library staff consultation sessions, 2021-22 Library strategy survey, 2022 State Library of NSW assessment and compliance report.

The post-exhibition report and final plan was reported to Council on 30 January 2023.
