North Sydney Council is committed to keeping the community informed about pesticide use in outdoor public spaces.

Feedback closes 25 August 2025
Council has developed a Pesticide Use Notification Plan (PUNP) to ensure residents are aware of when and where pesticides may be applied. This includes areas such as:
- Parks and gardens
- Playgrounds and sporting fields
- Road verges and footpaths
- Swimming pool grounds and cemeteries
The key amendments to the PUNP includes:
- referencing the requirements of the Pesticides Regulation 2017;
- addition of a Table of Contents page;
- a change in the PUNP review timeline, from three to five years;
- additional contact details;
- minor formatting issues to ensure consistency throughout the documents;
- the correction of spelling and grammatical errors.
Background
Council adopted its current Pesticide Use Notification Plan (PUNP) in September 2015, which was developed in accordance with the Pesticides Regulation 2009. Council is now required to review the adopted PUNP in accordance with the Pesticides Regulation 2017.
