Planning Proposal (8/21) - North Sydney Centre

Consultation has concluded

Submissions close 5 pm, 25 September 2023

At its meeting on 21 February 2022, Council resolved to support a planning proposal proceeding to Gateway Determination to amendNorth Sydney Local Environment Plan 2013(NSLEP2013) to rationalise and improve clarity as to the application of clauses within NSLEP 2013 that enable variations to the maximum height of buildings development standards applying to land located within the North Sydney Centre. In particular, it seeks to ensure that when a development application is received with a request to exceed the maximum height of buildings development standard under clause 4.3 on land within theNorth Sydney Centre, that the request to vary the development standard must consider the criteria currently contained under both clauses 4.6 and 6.3(3) to NSLEP 2013.

Please note that this Planning Proposal does not seek to increase or alter the maximum building heights permitted on any site within the North Sydney Centre.

On 6 July 2023, the Minister for Planning issued a Gateway Determination, allowing the Planning Proposal to be placed on public exhibition. In issuing the Gateway Determination, Council was not granted authorisation to be the local plan-making authority to finalise and make this plan. This aspect will reside with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.

The Planning Proposal will be on public exhibition from 14 August to 25 September 2023 and may be viewed in theDocument Library(on this page); at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 200 Miller Street, North Sydney, from 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays; and Stanton Library, 234 Miller Street, North Sydney, during opening hours.
