North Sydney Olympic Pool - Draft Fees and Charges Schedule 2025-26

Project Update

North Sydney Council is pleased to announce that North Sydney Olympic Pool has officially reached Practical Completion, marking the formal handover of the facility from the construction contractor to Council.

This significant milestone means the keys to the iconic harbour-side pool have now been handed to Council, representing the transition from construction to operational readiness ahead of reopening to the community.

The iconic harbour-side facility, first opened in 1936 and beloved by generations of Sydneysiders, is confirmed to reopen to the public on Friday 7th August 2026 during its 90th anniversary year.

Over the coming months, Council teams will be on site completing the final stages of preparation to deliver the best possible experience for the community when the facility reopens. This includes fit-outs, installation of equipment and furnishings, staff recruitment and training, implementation of technology and systems, commissioning and testing of plantrooms, finalisation of facility assessments and operating procedures, and completion of the remaining heritage restoration works.

Ahead of opening day, Council will be offering a series of guided community tours of the facility. Visit the North Sydney Olympic Pool website to register your interest in a preview tour, and to sign up for pool updates and information on memberships and Learn to Swim enrolments.

Project Outcome

At its meeting on 13 April 2026, Council adopted the North Sydney Olympic Pool Draft Fees and Charges for 2025–2027 following a community consultation period that received 133 submissions. To support community access, free memberships and Learn to Swim programs will be offered for the first four weeks, along with free entry on opening weekend and for disability support workers accompanying clients.

Feedback closed on 10 March 2026

North Sydney Council is inviting community feedback on the Draft Fees and Charges Schedule for the North Sydney Olympic Pool for 2025–26.

This draft schedule provides a recommended list of fees for all chargeable services, requests, applications, approvals, licences, hire bookings, and memberships at the newly redeveloped North Sydney Olympic Pool.

The revised schedule aims to ensure the pool remains financially sustainable while continuing to provide high‑quality facilities, programs, and community access to one of Sydney’s most iconic aquatic venues.

The proposed 2025–26 schedule has been developed to:

  • Reflect the operational costs associated with running the upgraded facility
  • Maintain affordability for a broad range of users
  • Support ongoing maintenance, staffing, and program delivery
  • Provide pricing transparency for community members, clubs, and casual patrons
  • Align with industry benchmarks and comparable aquatic centres

Community feedback is an important part of this process. All feedback received will be included in a further report to Council for endorsement and adoption.

North Sydney Olympic Pool DRAFT Fees & Charges (2025/26)

North Sydney Olympic Pool (NSOP) is expected to reopen to the public in mid 2026. The redevelopment has transformed the facility into a modern, full service leisure centre.

The drafted fees and charges are for the period from opening date to 30 June 2027 and will contribute towards funding ongoing operational, maintenance and borrowing costs. They have been developed following a comprehensive market and competitor analysis, benchmarking fees across approximately 12 operators from both the private sector and local government. This analysis was considered alongside NSOP’s iconic harbourfront location and the high quality finishes and amenities now available, to ensure the proposed fees and charges are appropriate, equitable, and competitively positioned.
