Consultation has concluded
Feedback closed 16 November 2021
In 2019, following community consultation on the draft strategy, Council adopted the Events Strategy 2019-2021 which outlined the events priorities across the organisation for the three-year period.
Council has a decentralised approach to event delivery with teams from across Council organising events relating to specific subjects, activities or locations. Therefore, the Events Strategy 2019-2021 aimed to draw together all the event-related strategies from the North Sydney Community Strategic Plan 2018-2028 and the Delivery Program2018/19-2021/22. This Strategy focused on three priority areas; improve the strategic approach to event management, initiate and deliver new local and regional community events, and support events organised by external organisations.
The Strategy also incorporated several new elements, including a focus on tourism, the development of an events program for the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability and an increased emphasis on partnerships to deliver events effectively, in line with the Community Strategic Plan.
Council commenced its review of the Events Strategy 2019-2021 and development of a new Events Strategy for the period 2022-2025 by reviewing the strategy and Council’s past event program. Community input is via two phases; for events that have already happened in North Sydney (completed) and on the draft Events Strategy 2022-2025.
Council sought feedback for the first phase of the review during October/November 2021, feedback will be used to draft the new strategy which is expected to be available for comment mid 2022.
