North Sydney Bike Action Plan
Consultation has concluded
Help us develop a new action plan encouraging people to ride in North Sydney!
Consultation closes Sunday 12 May 2024
North Sydney Council is refreshing the North Sydney Integrated Cycling Strategy, which has guided the delivery of priority bike routes since 2014.
To inform this refresh, Council is conducting engagement activities with the community to understand how cycling has shifted over the past ten years, establishing a new cycling network and developing key actions to make riding a bike safer and more enjoyable.
Engagement Activities
Council is committed to consulting with a broad spectrum of the community and our key stakeholders. To accommodate various needs and time constraints, we have provided the following formats.
Pop-up Stalls - opportunity to ask questions of Council staff and provide feedback.
- corner of Miller Street and Ridge Street, 8am to 10am, Wednesday 24 April 2024
- Northside Produce Markets, Saturday, 4 May 2024
Interviews - conduct interviews with members of the North Sydney community to understand the experience of people living in the area. All participants will receive a $50 supermarket voucher (spaces limited). Register your interest here.
Workshops - delivering a series of workshops to explore solutions, advocacy and actions North Sydney Council can implement in order to increase levels of cycling. Workshops will be held on Thursday 2 May, between 2pm to 4pm. Register your interest here.
Survey - complete the online survey here for your chance to win 1 of 3 $50 supermarket vouchers. Please include your email to be eligible.
Background Report
A Background Report is available in the document library (or linked here) and will inform the delivery of the bike action plan. The purpose of the report was to review the current policy context, develop a monitoring and evaluation framework, and benchmark local and international case studies to inform and raise the level of ambition for the new North Sydney Bike Action Plan.
The case studies provide an exploration of the following factors:
- Actions, including both infrastructure and non-infrastructure actions
- Criteria used in the prioritisation of different projects and infrastructure
- Targets for growing cycling levels, and how this compares to existing NSW target.
- Budget allocation to cycling projects.
