Construction
Work on the upgrading of Lodge Road Playground will commence
In accordance with Council’s Playgrounds Plan of Management and Playgrounds Methodology, the existing Lodge Road Playground (Lodge Road, Cremorne) is scheduled for upgrade.
The existing playground was last updated in 2000/01 and Council seeks to revitalise the existing playground. The proposed upgrade will retain some of the existing elements but will aim to increase functionality and some new play elements will be added.
Project Objectives
To create a refurbished and expanded playground that:
- provide a safe and engaging space to promote physical activity and social development
- retains the existing leafy, garden character of the current playground;
- provides a variety of play equipment, for a range of ages and abilities
- provides a pleasant environment for parents and carers, with adequate (informal) seating positioned to facilitate easy supervision; and
- provides maximum play value by offering many different types of activities (spinning, swinging, sliding, balancing, climbing etc)
Design Overview
The proposal is contained within the existing playground boundary and following initial consultation feedback it retains the existing helicopter as well as:
Existing swing sets replaced with a new multiple set of swings suitable for all ages.
- Play area expanded with:
- new slide with kanope play structure;
- new seats on concrete slab;
- additional edging and sandstone boulders which form part of a nature play;
- multi-play structure with a great play value for school aged children, activities including climbing, and balancing;
- rubber surfacing in high traffic areas;
- addition of mud kitchen and excavator.
The design option has been developed to suit the specified age group and the available budget for this project. View the Construction Plan in the Document Library.

Site establishment activities will begin on Monday, 14 October 2024, with construction starting on Wednesday, 16 October 2024. The works are expected to be completed within 8 weeks, weather and other factors permitting.
