Feedback period extended - closed 27 July 2022

The draft Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan was developed to help reduce the risk of flooding though different flood mitigation proposals.

It is a requirement of local councils under the NSW Government’s Floodplain Management Program. The objective is to improve understanding of flood behaviour to better inform flood risk management for property owners and publicly managed community assets. The Program’s overall goal is to increase community safety while mitigating damage to private and public assets.

There have been various stages of formulating this Plan as outlined in the lifecycle on this webpage and the infograph below. Further background information is available on Council’s website.

Around 750 affected properties have been identified in the flood study. Owners of identified properties have been informed by direct mail and are key stakeholders in this study, however feedback from the community is invited on the flood mitigation proposals.

Two online forums were held for owners of affected properties and any other community members who wish to receive more information on the flood study and plan. A recording and Q&A summary will be available soon. We also encourage you to read through the FAQs and terminology index (available as a PDF), if you are one of the affected 750 properties, this was included in your notification.

The draft Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan (64MB) is available in the Document Library. Hard copies are available at Stanton Library and Council's Customer Service Centre during opening hours.

Click here for the recordings and the Q&A Summary from the online information sessions held 8 and 9 June 2022.

The consultation outcomes will be reported to Council for endorsement prior to the mitigation plan being implemented.
