Sustainability is one of Council's core values and we have set ambitious carbon footprint and sustainable transport targets in our Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2030. Transitioning to electric vehicles is an important way of cutting greenhouse gas emissions in the community and working toward achieving North Sydney's net zero targets.
As a result of the NSW Government kerbside charging grants (round 1) and fast charging grants, three charge point operators were successful in receiving grant funding to install in North Sydney car parks. The successful charge point operators are NRMA, EVIE and ChargePost.
North Sydney Council has now approved the installation of the grant-funded electric vehicle chargers in the following car parks. Installation of the chargers will begin in early 2025 and will be complete by April 2025.
Please note that following advice from one of the service providers, and the grant funding body, some changes have been made on 3 January 2025 to some of the sites listed.
