Russell Street at Smoothey Park, Wollstonecraft - Proposed footpath widening and raised pedestrian crossing
Feedback closes 16 September 2024.
In response to concerns about pedestrian accessibility between Smoothey Park and the footpath connected to Boronia Street’s cul-de-sac, Council is considering a proposal to widen the existing footpath along the eastern side of Russell Street, and install a raised pedestrian crossing on Russell Street, Wollstonecraft. To comply with current technical directions for pedestrian crossings, two sections of “No Parking” along Russell Street would be converted to “No Stopping”, and existing speed cushions would be removed.
The proposed footpath widening and raised pedestrian crossing aim to create a safer environment for pedestrians travelling to and from Smoothey Park. Additionally, the raised pedestrian crossing would help reduce vehicle speeds along Russell Street.
The proposed conversion of “No Parking” restrictions to “No Stopping” would prohibit vehicles from stopping at any point on the road or kerb in the direction of the arrow within the designated “No Stopping” areas.
