Project Update

The outcomes of Community Consultation were considered at Council's meeting on Monday 25 June 2018. The paper is available in the document library.

Background

In 1998 Council adopted the Bradfield Park and Kirribilli Foreshore Masterplan. The Masterplan (see document library) emphasises the regional significance of the foreshore area and the importance of improving pedestrian access along the foreshore. To view works completed to date click here.

What's proposed?

In its 2017/18 budget Council allocated money for the investigations, consultation and design of open space areas located adjacent to Jeffrey Street Wharf and southern section of Bradfield Park located along the Harbour Foreshore.

The main objectives of this project are based on those developed for the Bradfield Park and Kirribilli Foreshore Master Plan:

  • to upgrade the visual quality of the harbour foreshore
  • to improve access and circulation along the foreshore
  • to enhance opportunities to view harbour events
  • to protect and celebrate the areas rich heritage
  • to reduce the impact of existing traffic infrastructure

In addition to proposed enhancements of open space, the concept designs include proposed changes to road layout:

  • proposed loss of 4 x all day parking spaces located on Olympic Drive
  • proposed loss of 1 x 4 hour parking space adjacent to Jeffery Street Wharf
  • upgrade of existing pedestrian lighting
