In 1998 Council adopted the Bradfield Park and Kirribilli Foreshore Masterplan. The Masterplan (see document library) emphasises the regional significance of the foreshore area and the importance of improving pedestrian access along the foreshore. To view works completed to dateclick here.
What's proposed?
In its 2017/18 budget Council allocated money for the investigations, consultation and design of open space areas located adjacent to Jeffrey Street Wharf and southern section of Bradfield Park located along the Harbour Foreshore.
The main objectives of this project are based on those developed for the Bradfield Park and Kirribilli Foreshore Master Plan:
to upgrade the visual quality of the harbour foreshore
to improve access and circulation along the foreshore
to enhance opportunities to view harbour events
to protect and celebrate the areas rich heritage
to reduce the impact of existing traffic infrastructure
In addition to proposed enhancements of open space, the concept designs include proposed changes to road layout:
proposed loss of 4 x all day parking spaces located on Olympic Drive
proposed loss of 1 x 4 hour parking space adjacent to Jeffery Street Wharf
upgrade of existing pedestrian lighting
